Have you ever found yourself stumbling upon unexpected yet delightful things to do around Sydney while exploring a familiar neighborhood? Well, that happened to me on a rainy day when I was taking my guests on my Nature and Wildlife - Australia in One Day tour. It turned out to be one of the best detours we could have made.
It was an unexpected torrential downpour in the morning, and I was showing my guests some of the diverse landscapes within our national parks - rainforests, mangrove swamps, and misty wooded valleys. We had a long day planned ahead of us, but the weather had other plans. As the rain grew stronger, we had to rethink our itinerary.
After some discussion, we decided to take a break and stop at the nearby Chocolate Factory Gosford. My guests were excited about the prospect of visiting a chocolate factory, and I have to admit, I was too. The thought of chocolate was the perfect solution to a rainy day.
When we arrived at the chocolate factory, we were immediately struck by the aroma of chocolate that filled the air.
The factory was well-appointed, with a gift shop, café, and ample room to sit and enjoy coffee, food, or ice cream, and of course, chocolate. Although we would have appreciated some samples to try before buying, it was still tempting to choose from the many gourmet chocolate bags and boxes on display. We were impressed by the many gluten-free options that were easily identified by labels and on the menu.
We didn't have time to do a tour or make our own chocolate bar, which takes at least an hour, but we still had an incredible time.
The chocolate products were locally made, and the quality was impeccable. We were thrilled with the variety of goodies and gift packs available for purchase. The staff was friendly, and we could tell that they were passionate about ensuring the best quality products.
Overall, this chocolate factory was a real find, and we highly recommend it. Although they don't make their own chocolate, they import what we believe is one of the best Belgian chocolates, Callebaut. Then they use it to make various products, including coating various fruits and nuts roasted in-house. They do make their nougat and marshmallows, which are delicious.
The rain had stopped by the time we finished our tour and tasting, and we continued with our original plan. However, the visit to the chocolate factory remained one of the highlights of our day. So if you're looking for things to do around Sydney, visiting the Chocolate Factory Gosford is definitely worth considering.
In retrospect, I'm grateful for the rain that forced us to change our plans and visit the chocolate factory. It was a unique experience that we might not have had otherwise. It's often said that life is full of surprises, and this was one of those unexpected delights that made our day all the more special. :)
